Hi all,

How important is a ceremony when applying for a spouse visa (offshore)?

Can a civil ceremony suffice, with the key point being that you’re married? Or would not having a ceremony raise some sort of suspicion when the applicant is from a high risk country?

If and when the time comes, we would look at a civil ceremony for financial reasons, with a view to having something much nicer later on when we could afford it.

With the current visa costs, to do anything else is difficult to comprehend.

Cheers,

Simon

It really would depend on your circumstances and overall evidence. In most cases, a simple civil ceremony will be fine. In other cases (for example with arranged marriages) , an elaborate family wedding will provide the necessary evidence.
