Hi;
this is Asim.I have some query about the "closely related to nominated occupation" condition in the GSM visa.
I just completed my Master degree in the specialisation of Network Systems (Network Engineering) . While my bachelor degree was Electrical engineering.
I have got assessment letter from Engineers Australia of Electrical Engineer profession.
My question is , will DIAC consider Network System and Electrical Engineering as a closely related study.

The ANZSCO definition of Electrical Engineers says that electrical engineer can be "Signalling and communication engineer". I think Network engineering is some what related communication engineering, so will DIAC consider this.
I'm very confused about this. Please somebody reply.

Thanks
Asim.

I have a query or two too Asim, first for some feedback.
1. Are the site section headings so unclear that you did not post to this section on Visas & Immigration?
You are not alone in doing it and it would be good to know what people expect of the forum re direction.

2. With your query is the Network Systems you're talking of all about the electrial supply networks as in Grid management or are you talking about IT networks?

and sorry to put the thread at wrong place.

my master degree is concerned with telecommunication, IP,computer networks, system administration (microsoft) and some programming subjects.
The bachelor degree (electrical engineering) I did from India.

It sounds to me as though your Masters has been more into the computer/IT side of things than actual electrical engineering however it'll be a case of whether immigration consider what you have studied is sufficiently akin to electrical engineering in that the masters studies will be complementary to your engineering occupation.
They do give some examples under the eligibility information, ie. think they even list building and business as being related and so engineering and what you have done in your Masters may be likewise.
It is impossible for anyone in the forum to comment otherwise unless they had been in the exact same situation.
The only other way of attempting to get some form of indication would be a pre lodgement enquiry and the more specific you are with detailing your masters studies, the better chance you may have of getting a meaningful answer.
You'll find PLE under contact on Immi page header.
