We the family of 4 applied for the visitor visa 600 Category from India. We want to travel on April 15th 2019 for 2 weeks, and the date of visa application is January 8th 2019. I had heard that Australia grants visa which is valid from the day its granted, so i assumed that if i am granted early for 3 months, the period would be over well before my travel dates, thus i applied for 6 months validity. After application for 6 months, i received the flag on the immi page to do medical tests, which costs AD 100 approx per person in addition to the visa fees. This would not have happened if i had applied for 3 months. As for application for 6 months, the medical is required. However, we only intended to stay for 2 weeks!

I have emailed high commission but no reply received. Does any one has idea on the same, if its required or i should just wait for their revert? or do medical tests as asked?

With the tourist visa it's valid from the date of arrival in the country. Not sure where you got that info from. There is airways a missy not arrive after date but that is separate.

If you want the visas granted then you will need to do the medicals. Otherwise withdraw the applications and start from scratch.

For visits of longer than 3 months, medical examinations are required.
