If your husband is born in australia that would be enough proof to use that your child is an australian citizenship which you would not need to get evidence of citizenship from DIBP. I remember when i applied for my daughter's passport we just bring my husband australian birth certificate during the passport interview and they accept it as proof of child's citizenship
Having an Australian birth certificate is not sufficient to establish that a person is, or was, an Australian citizen, or permanent resident.
