Sorry was not aware you wanted a passport for your child - that would have received different answers than you are currently getting.

Tip both parents need to sign for the passport application unless there is a legal exemption.

But I do believe that the proof of citizenship is required for the passport application, and in almost all cases in Australia "a legal guardian" can apply on behalf of a minor and in some cases both are required to sign/give consent.

How about if the father name is not in birth certificate ? Is there any questions for the father to sign too ? Thank you
Then that would require the mother to be an Australian PR or Citizen for the child to be eligible to be an Australian Citizen and obtain an Australian Passport.

If the mother is not a PR or Citizen of Australia and the father "unknown" or not on the certificate then the relevant country of the mother regulations need to be addressed.

I believe that the fathers consent (or signature) is not required for the Australian passport application, as there is no document that exists that say's he is the father.

You will be classed in Australia as the sole parent of the child due to the birth certificate.
