Hi guys, I'm hoping one of you can help me with this.

I am going to apply for the contributory parent visa, but my question is this...

Would I be able to go to Australia(from the UK) on a holiday visa and apply for the contributory visa whilst in Australia. So when my holiday visa expires I could get a bridging visa until my contributory visa is granted.

Hope that makes some sense.

There are some visas that may have restrictions re onshore applications but the family stream of migration is one that specifically has right at options stage a choice of picking whether your application is going to be onshore or offshore - Family - Visas & Immigration

The only catch that can occur is if for some reason you have a "no further stay" condition on your tourist visa, something that apparently is rather random but hoefully infrequent, possibly used for what may be considered as high risk visitors.

If in doubt or wanting some immi reassurance you can usually get a helpful immi reply to an email to them.
