Hi guys,

we`ve just been granted visas to Oz and planning to move in Feb.
We`ve contacted 2 removal companies and are waiting to hear back from them.

Which company did you use to move your house and how much did that cost you?

We are not moving our furniture, only most important items like clothes, our children`s toys and a few bigger items like 2 adult bikes, a child bike, 50inch TV and a few more.

I`d be grateful for any replies

Merry Christmas to all of you

Congrats on getting your visa and with something like the Tele, you might want to check that it is a compatible type for Australia as there are a couple of different systems about the planet, ours being a PAL format if I remeber correctly.
Televisions are also fragile devices and you can get them pretty cheap in Australia, 42 inch LCDs from under a $1000 and 50 inch Plasmas from about $2000.
If you're down to toys, clothes and bikes [ the latter also pretty cheap unless you have some real specialist types and even then some great secondhand buys for just a few hundred $$$ ], clothes you might need in Perth could be a lot different to NH clobber and do an Asian stopover to buy some backpacks and fill them and you'll be laughing and even enjoy the flight more too.
But review your plans and if you have not yet booked tickets ask the different airlines about whether they will do extra baggage for immigration, airlines like Singapore or Qantas possibly do, and you may find you can do without a shipper and all the hastle anyway.
But there are just so many of them about and agents probably then pool their services with a shipping company so boxes of different gear go into one shipping container.

thank you for your reply,
We are going with Qantas and stopping over in South Africa for 2 weeks to visit my in-laws.
Yes, they have an excess baggage allowance but that won`t help if you have 2 little kids and a lot of stuff to bring with. I`m most certainly going to take my clothes and shoes with as I`m very petite and struggle to buy anything for myself.
