Hi,

I am currently on a 457 visa expiring in over a year and I will be applying for an 820 partner visa shortly. I understand that when applying you automatically get a BVA that takes effect only once the 457 expires.

What do i need to do to leave the country for travel before the 820 visa is approved. Will i still need to apply for a BVB even though the BVA hasn't taken effect?

Would it be easier to submit the application for the 820 visa after travel/after returning to Australia?

You could submit 820 now & do police and medical when you return to Australia.

If you wish to travel whilst the 457 is in effect then you are bound to the conditions in that visa.

If you wish to travel after the 457 expires then you will need a bvb.
