As far as I know, there is no obligation to find any sort of employment at all, if you have a general skilled visa.

What caveats are you referring to ? Which occupation(s)?

Are you looking at state sponsored (sc.190) rather than sc.189 ?

The caveats are: Excludes any of the following positions:
based in a front-line retail setting
predominately involve direct client transactional interaction on a regular basis
with businesses than have an annual turnover of less than AUD$1M
have a nominated base salary of less than AUD$65,000.

It is for Marketing Specialist.
The caveats only apply to employer sponsored visas sc. 457 and sc. 186. If you apply for those visas, you would obviously already have a job.

This occupation is not an eligible occupation for a sc. 189 visa and there are only very limited options under state nominated sc. 190 and sc. 489 visas.

Yep I would ideally enter Australia as a skilled migrant under occupation marketing specialist to live in South Australia. Again as you say without a job before hand. Can you tell me what you mean by limited options?

I have more than enough points. Any help would be amazing!

Aaron
Without an employer to sponsor you, you'd be looking at sc. 190 and 489.

Have a look here:
