Hello!

My partner and I are ready to pay and start uploading our evidence but before we do I wanted to see what people thought about the up front questions and how to complete them. Questions are:

Give details of the financial aspects of the relationship.
Give details of the nature of the household.
Give details of the social aspects of the relationship.
Give details of the nature of the commitment the applicant and the sponsor have to each other.
Give details of the development of the relationship between the applicant and the sponsor.

These are answered in our individual documents for each section and the 2000 character limit online means we can't copy and paste the introductory statements from our documents into the text boxes provided for these up front questions.

If we typed something like the following (for social aspects as an example), would this be acceptable?

Please see our uploaded document titled {Name of Doc} for a statement regarding the social aspects. In this document we have provided evidence outlining our social activities and joint travel including invitations, holidays, photos, receipts and bank statements. The document will guide you through the evidence and direct you to any additional documents created to support this. Further evidence has been provided to support this document in the uploaded documents titled [Name of Docs].

I'm open to ideas and suggestions as I don't want the case officer to think we're being coy or not putting effort into answering questions!

Yes, that would be acceptable.

Even a simple "See applicant statement" is enough. Then label your file "Applicant_Statement" and upload it as one pdf.

They already know the statements is going to contain that information and they already know you're providing evidence to support it.

On this, my statement is at the start of my evidence document and all the evidence (like calendars, receipts, etc.) is within the one PDF upload (except for a few things like bank statements and photos which have been compressed into separate PDFs to keep within the 5MB file size limit per upload). Question is, should I break this statement out into it's own PDF file for each of the key sections? We're probably at about 40 uploads without creating separate files for the up front statements. Just keen to hear how other people have done it as there doesn't seem to be any set standard across those that have applied.

The statement should definitely be a separate upload in it's own pdf. Whether it's one statement or broken down into answering each question individually is up to you, but it should be in one pdf with nothing else.

Required items should always be separate and not combined with other things. Then the relationship evidence like photos can combine into one, financial evidences combined, social evidences combined, proof of living together can be one pdf (lease/mortgage, bills, etc), and so on.

40 isn't bad if you have a lot of evidence. By putting the statement into it's own pdf, you should only be at 41 (or 42 if the sponsor does the same as a sponsor is also required to complete the narrative boxes or do a separate statement).

Okay, that's good to know and thanks for the advice. I'll make sure my statement and my partner's relationship statements are separated into their own PDFs and then look at how that affects the flow of my evidence documents. I'm thinking we'll have an introductory statement (a few paragraphs) at the start of each evidence document to explain what's in it and perhaps some detail expanding on what was said in our relationship statements that is specific to the section we're presenting in the doc (financial, social, etc).
