Hi, My boyfriend and I want to move to Australia, I have been before so cannot get a working holiday visa, our plan is that he will travel out to Oz first on the holiday visa and get work and hopefully sponsored, I will then follow out on a holiday visa and apply for the de facto.
My question is would it be frowned upon that he has gone before me and that I am entering on a holiday visa under false pretences?

Thanks in advance

once your boyfriend is sponsored then legally he can bring his partner (you) to live with him and you will be allowed to work.

your boyfriend cannot bring his partner (you) with him to australia to live/work while he is on a WHV, even if you were married.

he can only apply for a de facto visa if he is an australian citizen.

you can enter australia on a holiday visa to visit him, but you cannot look for work on a tourist visa. technically this means that you can't even read the employment pages in the newspaper... but i think so long as you are not applying for jobs then you will be ok.

if your boyfriend does not have australian citizenship and cannot find an employer to sponsor him then i can't think of any way you could work legally in australia. you can stay here for up to 12mo on a tourist visa... but you can't work or look for work.

good luck!
