hi,

I was the one that went for the medical on Friday arvo with the lipomas.
For everyone thats dreading the medical, don't, these people are very good (Melbourne) and they're lovely people, had a little laugh so took the ease off..

I've just got this back from Immi..


lth clearance provided – no action required

All health examinations required for the specified visa subclass have been finalised. Processing of this person's visa application can now continue. This will not occur until a case officer investigates the case in line with published processing times for the visa that has been applied for. Do not contact the department about health examinations in the meantime.


Does this means my X-Ray,HIV Test and examination was all successful?
and I don't have hiv.

As far as I know it just means that the doc/clinic has submitted their results to IMMI and now it is in DIBP's hand to make a decision. I'm not sure if doctors have the authority to give you a pass or not. I assume they don't and it's completely in the hands of DIBP to make a decision on weather or not the medical was "successful".

just confused why it would say "no action required" and that my visa can continue, if it wasn't a pass?

did your medical come up with something different when you had passed it?

and if there was something wrong with me, the doctor would of called?

No Action required just means you dont need to do anything in reply to this message

I would assume this simply means Immigration have recieved the results, although not necessarily reviewed them, and once a case officer has been assigned the whole visa will be processed.

its always a worry, but it seems to me like it would be a pass on the medical, as surly if I had anything wrong they wouldn't just assign a CO.

its just it was done Friday arvo, and its only Monday afternoon. it said it could take up to 5 working days.

I guess it means that currently you don't have to do anything. In case the CO is not happy with the results, they may request extra tests/statements.
I don't think it's a guarantee that you passed. Not sure if there is another message that could be displayed in case the doc had found something problematic.... Probably not, because as far as I know, they are not allowed to communicate their findings to you. I BELIEVE, that by applying for the visa and doing the medical, you consent to the results only being provided to DIBP. That being said, if they did find something potentially life-threatening, I don't think DIBP would hold back that information and just deny the visa...

Yes, 5 working days from doing the medical to the doc/clinic submitting it, not the CO being assigned. Mine also took from Friday to Monday or Tuesday. I guess they say 5 working days in case they are busy and can't submit it faster.

yeah thanks, id imagine with the amount of people that come and go, it would take a while. they must have people working the weekend too.

Id imagine if you had anything life threatening, they couldn't not tell you.
Id imagine if you had HIV, or TB, they couldn't not tell you until a CO is assigned.

it said that my heath clearance provided, so id imagine with that I am pretty healthy. When I asked the doctor she said I am healthy with no problems, waiting on my HIV test, I then get that health clearance provided - no action required.

It must mean that I haven't got anything seriously wrong with me, surly?

as for German girl, surly if you have any seriously thing wrong with you, the DOCTOR cannot hold nothing back from you.

and for other messages, they are plenty i.e

"examinations Assessed but further information required"

"Health requirement - health not completed"

No need to be rude. Glad your found the info you WANT TO HEAR somewhere else. I'm sure they are all specialists, worked with the eMedical system and/or DIBP to be so damn sure about it.
I for my part wouldn't trust anyone who says something is 100% sure when it comes to DIBP. Yeah, you may be cleared, but you may not. So believe what you want.

I had a look and the panel doctors are allowed to tell the patients in case of abnormal results that need follow-up treatments. However I remember that I either signed a form or at least was told that I will not be informed of the results. Maybe that's just valid for the regular results.

"The IME is tailored to identify medical conditions which will allow MOCs to determine if the applicant meets the health requirement to enter Australia. However, other conditions may become apparent during the examination, and the Panel Member has a responsibility to ensure that follow up and appropriate care is arranged."

Either way, it's the CO who makes the final decision, not the Doc.

"The Panel Member’s role is that of an independent examiner who must provide the department with an impartial opinion (see perceived conflict of interest)."

yes sorry for coming across rude.

I know the CO will pass or fail you with the results if they are dodgy, but what I'm trying to get the information of are, that if I had a serious problem, HIV or TB, the doctor would have to inform me, meaning that it is passed atleast from the doctors side and I am clear of these diseases.

HIV and TB aren't the only things that could cause a medical to fail either.

If you are worried about TB result or HIV positive result and want to know the results go to the doctor and have the tests done separately.

It seems as your overly worrying, please don't. Nobody can definitely answer these questions as you cannot find out the test results and you can't find out the CO decision on the medical until your visa is accepted/rejected.

A lot of the health clearance process is automated now. Only certain ones gets flagged for a closer look (not sure of the formula but if you're young and healthy you're most likely in the clear). If it says health clearance provided it means just that, the health clearance has been provided. The CO won't intervene at a later date and tell you you didn't pass the medical they are not medical specialists and that is not their role.
