Hello

We applied for my wife's son (my wife has a pr) to live with us in aus.

We have been requested to get a dna check to make sure she is the mother. She is in aus but he is in a small town in indonesia
I cannot for the life of me find the center we can have a family member take him too. There is also mention of an embassy staff being present but he doesnt like anywhere near the embassy (4 hour flight plus 3 hour drive) has anyone had experience with this or know where I can find the labs he can go too?

Any held would be greatly appreciated

Is she on his birth certificate? I haven't married with my ex partner and we had a daughter 5yo. I applied her citizenship by descent and the DIBP asked the DNA test because her father was not on her birth certificate.

Are you the sponsor of her permanent resident? Is she has a family card include her son ? There is a DNA lab at Johar Baru in Central Jakarta but the DNA test have to be witness by a person from embassy. Unless you want to use a lawyer.

Doesn't prove the person is the father though. I know of at least one case where the father was listed on the birth certificate and immigration still asked for the DNA test. In that case, it was a partner visa application.
I think the guy want to apply for his wife's son and it's not about to grant the son an Australian citizenship. Because child migration or dependant need To apply before the mother 801 PV granted I suppose. But it'll be easier to ask the DIBP

If the department suggests you undertake DNA testing, they will recommend you use certain laboratories with which arrangements are in place to do DNA testing for immigration purposes. Details of these laboratories will be provided by the department in the letter to clients.

Weren't the details provided in the letter?
