Hello.

My friend just recently got his PR. He told me he got his Skills assessed solely based on his engineering degree. He didn't have work experience. He told me that most of skill assessments do not require work experience, but if you have, it can give you additional points. However, i can see from https://www.vetassess.com.au/skills-assessment-for-migration/general-occupations/application-process

"VETASSESS full skills assessment involves assessing your qualifications and employment against the suitability of your nominated occupation."
And
"A positive assessment of both qualifications and employment is required for a successful skills assessment for migration purposes."

So on the one hand my friend got his skilled assessed positively just on his degree, while online it says you work experience as well. So someone can clarify this?

Another question. Due to recent changes to 457 work visa, where now people need atleast 2 years of experience to to eligible for a nominated occupation, has it become impossible for people who don't have or have less than 2 years of experience to get a work visa in Australia now? I started working as a restaurant manager, but i don't have 2 years of experience, so i told the employer that they won't be able to sponsor me for TSS visa anymore. So there was no point of working as a restaurant manager if that won't allow me to be eligible for a visa and left the job. was this the right thing to do?

Another thing that i am observing on the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Australian Government

For all the occupation there is a section "Indicative Skill Level". There, for example, for "MAJOR GROUP 1 MANAGERS"

Says

" Bachelor degree or higher qualification. At least five years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 1);
AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma, or at least three years of relevant experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 2)"

That means if we have Bachelor degree or higher relevant to the nominated occupation for GSM visas, we don't need work experience?
