Hey all,

This may be the wrong section to post this, but I’ll give it a go. So my wife is a US citizen and I’m the Australian citizen. We are currently living in the USA and I have a green card which was obtained through a K1 visa a few years ago. We have applied for the 309/100 so we can move back to Australia. We are looking for someone who can help with advice on expat taxes in Australia. Does anyone know of anyone who specializes in US expat taxes?

Sorry if this has been covered before - I couldn’t find much online, and would really prefer to speak to someone who specializes in this or has had a similar issue in the past.

I assume most don't pay them. I know in Singapore it is common to renounce US citizenship to avoid the double tax on income.

Thanks Ampk. It’s not really an option for her to renounce it right now, so we will deal with those issues for her. My concern was with me holding a green card currently. I may relinquish it once in Aus but wanted to figure out if that’s the best option. The more I hear, the more I think it probably is. That way she files us and Aus and I’donly file Aus.

US and AUS have double tax treaty.

I would google some firms in Aus who deals with US/Aus tax and get them to help you organise it all when you do the move.
