Hi, I've recently applied for perminant residency into Australia. My son was born post lodgement in Australia and in order to add him to my application I have to fill in form 1229 (consent to grant an Australian visa to a child under the age of 18).
It says I have to get the fathers consent in order for the child to be added, however I have not seen or heard from him since my sons conception. He is not on the birth cert as I do not have any of his personal information and have no means of contacting him.
I was just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation or knows what I should do?

This is a problem and need sorting.
Do you know where he is? if not you need to make big effort to find him like advertisement in news papers an stuff.

Is best and easiest to have him sign 1229

A signed stat dec may be sufficient according to one example here: http://www.australiaforum.com/visas-immigration/19201-form-1229-consent-grant-australian-visa.html

Especially if not on the birth certificate.
