I want an i.d card that shows my address and immigration status. The immicard didnt mention 801 visa holders as eligible. I thought i would be sent a card when my visa was approved. I want to start looking for work and get my driver license. Do most ppl only use their passport and printed out visa paper as evidence or can I get an immigration i.d card? Thank you

Good hands & tax file number is all you need mate, when you out looking for a job. Not even once I've been asked about visa. Employers can always using VEVO to check, they won't have to ask you.

Don't think there's any card as it's all just digitally tied to the passport. I was able to get a TFN and driver's licence on a temporary visa... you don't need PR for that, especially since you've had work rights since the BVA was in effect from your 820 application (assuming the previous visa didn't already have work rights).

Start with applying for your TFN. Then check the ID requirements for the state you live in to get a licence.

There is no such thing as an ID card that shows your address and immigration status.

Employers are suppose to get a copy of your passport and run a VEVO check to make sure you are allowed to work, but not all employers do this.

Since you are from the USA you should be able to hand over your USA license and get an Australian license as long as you meet the requirements of the state that you live in.

WA ID requirements are pretty strict. I needed 5 forms of ID (believed I ended up using Passport, lease, medicare, TFN, and bank statement and of course visa grant to prove I wasn't a tourist and US licence to transfer over vehicle and motorcycle). Other states seem to be a bit more lax on the ID requirement though.

At least for me, it was a bit more than just showing my US licence and asking for a transfer.
