Hi everyone! Brand spanking new member here :)

I can't seem to find any straight forward info on this one

So I'm an Aussie and my partner is Canadian, we have applied for an 820,801 visa and my partner is currently on a BVA awaiting the 820.
We will be going back to Canada for Christmas and are thinking of getting married whilst over there (we have the BVB all sorted).
My question is, will getting married help or hinder the process in anyway? Like getting the 801 granted at the same time the 820 is granted?
Or will it most likely have no effect?
Also should we inform immigration that we plan to get married before hand or just let them know when it happens?

I know this might have been covered before so sorry and thanks in advance!
Cheers.

The application will be decided on the information provided at time of lodgement and any further information that may be requested by the Department. You don't go straight to PR (801) unless you were in a long term relationship at time of lodgement.

Getting married won't really change anything, although it can be good evidence of your ongoing relationship and your level of commitment. You should update your marital status after the marriage has taken place.
