Good day everyone I'd like to start my first thread with an introduction.
I am Tyrone Holmes, 23 years old, from Johannesburg South Africa. Over a period of 5 years my family moved to the UK in which time I completed high school and my degree (up to honours level) in geology and environmental management. I have a dutch passport through my mother and my dad has a british passport that I was not able to obtain.
At this point I want nothing more than to live and work in Australia as a geologist or environmental scientist and to one day become an Australian citizen. The occupation "geologist" is listed on the short term skilled occupations list (STSOL) with ANZSCO code 23411. I think with this occupation a person is eligible to apply for the 190, 407, 489 (S/T) and TSS (S) visas. With the education I have completed I could potentially fall under a few other occupations listed on the different occupations lists.
From what I understand I might require up to 2 years work experience in the skilled occupation in order to be eligible for the visas/immigration. So at this point of my life I am trying to plan my career to give me the best chance to get into Australia. I have not completed any relevant work experience in SA and I am moving to the UK soon where I hope to land a relevant job. In all honesty though if I had an opportunity to skip the UK and go straight to Aus, I would definitely do that. I have an aunt and uncle (divorced) and their daughters that have lived in Aus for the past 20+ years if that would help my situation in any way..
With that being said I was wondering if there is anyone here that can comment on my situation and what they might believe to be a good idea for the steps to come? Is there no way I can get into Australia sooner rather than waiting so long for the work experience?
I hope I have not come across as naive and nooby and I apologise if I have. I am just trying to find out if there are any opinions on my situation from people that have experience with immigration.
