Hi! I am applying for a single entry tourist visa. I'm planning to visit family for a period of two weeks so in my application I selected up to 3 mos as duration of visit. I was surprised that I'm being required to do a health exam and chest Xray. I believe this is because I answered yes to the question regarding previous xray that showed an anomaly.

Anyway that was during my health exam for a New Zealand resident visa application. I was cleared of any health issues so I have been living in NZ for the past 2 years as a permanent resident. I really don't want to do another health exam which will cost at least $500 considering I'm only planning to visit for 2 weeks. Has anyone else encountered something similar? What do you think are my chances of having my visa approved without doing the medical exam?

You've answered it yourself "I'm required".

If you don't do as required then you don't get visas. They want to know you don't have a communicable disease that will potentially have a detrimental effect on the Australian population .
