Hi everyone!

I'm a complete newbie to this forum (and forum's in general!) so just wanted to reach out to say 'hi' to all other members :)

I came across the forum because my partner and I are looking to venture back to Australia in the coming months as he is an Australian citizen (I met him whilst I was in Sydney on a 457), we left Australia in March 2019 to go travelling for and had planned to return last year but due to family circumstances we extended our stay in the UK (I'm British) but with COVID-19 we have been unsure what our options were for getting back and have been to-ing and frow-ing with what to do in such an uncertain and unprecedented time so was just wanting to see if anyone else on this forum is in a similar boat or knows of anyone else with a similar situation please?

We have been in touch with a few different migration agents and we have heard I could join him on a waivered holiday visa (which I believe is a 600 and then you use the 'COVID-19 request to travel form' to apply for the waiver) but then I cannot work, however, I do have some savings to support myself so it is a potential option but I was wondering if anyone has been on that visa (600) and then applied for the partner 820/801 visa onshore? As that would give me the ability to work but I saw the 600 has a 'no further stay' condition, so from reading some of the other threads I'm not sure the 600 visa is what others have been on when applying for their partner visas?

Please accept my apologies if I am repeating this from another thread - I have been through a lot of the other threads which have been very useful but I couldn't see if those applying for a de facto visa were on a 600 or a 651 (but I'm not sure if you can even get a 651 at the moment due to COVID-19) so if anyone is going through or has been through a similar situation, it would be great to hear from you!

Hoping to get the right visa applied for soon with the hope to fly around the middle of September and the quarantine in NSW once we arrive, obviously all Coronavirus depending and hoping the world will be in a better place by then - fingers crossed!

Many thanks in advance.
Take care and stay safe everyone :)

Not all the 600s have the 'no further stay' condition'.

Before Covid, any of the visitor visas were common to come to Australia, and then possibly decide to stay and apply for the 820.

Obviously you don't plan to get a visitor visa purely for that reason.

Thanks JandE! Yes of course, most visitor visas would generally be for holidays/visiting family and friends etc. (which is what I would be hoping to do also) rather than as a way to apply for a partner visa, but I do know of a few people who have gone down that route also, albeit not during Covid so it is likely to be different now! Good to know that not all the 600s have the 'no further stay' condition though - that is a massive help! Thank you :)
