How do you live together with your partner to prove you're in a de facto relationship if you need to be in a de facto relationship to live with each other? Like what even. If we're already living with each other, why bother with the partner visa? Should I go live with her for 12 months in another country? How should I go about this?

If your partner is from another country and you are living together, I'm assuming it would be on a temporary basis due to visas. You would apply for a partner visa because you want them here with you permanently.

I'm not sure I understand. You become de facto when you live together, you need to be de facto for one year in order to fulfill that requirement.

So, if you have lived together for 12 months, you will fulfill the de facto requirement, unless I'm mistaken.

If you are not in a same sex relationship alot either get married or do the PMV and get married later. The de facto aspect is only useful if living together or offshore or living together onshore on a temporary visa ie. WHV.
