My partner is on a tourist visa to Australia and she have to leave next week on wednesday 4th of July, We will be applying for the Partner visa (subclasses 820 and 801), I was wondering after we apply online and made the payment of $7000 does she automatically switch over to the bridging visa? Do we have to apply for the bridging visa separately and how long does it takes to receive the bridging visa as after 4th of July she can no longer remain in Australia legally.

That is pushing it very tight!!!

Immi web site is about to go down for maintenance for the end of year adjustments, also it get lots of traffic and often shuts down. You might get lucky and get it all sorted and pay.

If you can pay via credit card the Bridging Visa normally follows in minutes but on occasions it has taken a few days (not sure if the grant day is day of payment of the they get the email).

But you must pay by credit card option, the fee goes up on 1 July and there is also the CC surcharge fee.

Agree with ampk. You should apply today to give time for delays and immi being down. Sometimes there are delays!

BVA is automatically granted after applying and like ampk said can take minutes or days to arrive. BVA won't kick in until current visa stay period expires.
