Hi guys,

I filed in my partner visa application subclass 820 in mid Dec 2017, so today, like 2 months later, I received this email from "IMMI s56 request email" for more documents, and the case officer's location is in Cambodia?!

Is this normal?

It seems like they have reviewed my application way too soon, when they say the processing time is usually 20 - 25 months?!

And this request e-mail does not show up in my IMMI account?

I am not sure if this is a scam or not. has anyone experienced the same ?

It is not uncommon for onshore partner visas to be processed offshore.

There have been quite a few partner visa grants, both onshore and offshore, granted in about the two month range this week. Technically the global processing times are 75% processed within 20 months and 90% processed in 25 months. This does not mean 20-25 months processing time as according to the GPT estimates, only 15% of cases take in that time frame. An application processed in two months falls into the 75% statistical category.

Not all email correspondence show up in your immi account. While some people have every correspondence also appear in their immi account, the only items that ever appeared in mine were the Acknowledgement of Application Received letter and my grant letters. No correspondence from the CO directly, while sent to my email address, ever made it to my immi account.

Not sure how it would be a scam. You applied online so any information requested should be uploaded directly to your immi account.

Hi there

This will be becoming more and more common. The Department has recently started global processing for partner visas to reduce the backlog. They are also trying to expedite applications that are front-loaded (ie character and medical checks complete). So if you've front-loaded that would also make sense.

Kind regards

This is interesting. Hopefully this will decrease waiting times. Are they doing the same for 801 visas?

Oh whow! i didn't expect this to happen. Yes, I've pretty much uploaded 99% of the documents required, done one of my Police Checks and health Checks. And they are requesting for one each from my partner and I as we have lived in a few countries before. Im guessing my visa application should be fine ?
