I am from Pakistan, 33 years old, married and father of one. here is my brief intro

I've done Bachelor of Commerce(2 years degree) and after that switched to IT field. During my intital career i got the Masters in Information Technology degree (2 years programme). I've now 8 years of working experince in the field of software development and have worked in different capacities.

One of my friend told me that I am not eligible because I dont have my Bachelor's degree in computer sciences.

Could anybody provide some guidlines on this?

Have a look at the ACS site, ACS (Australian Computer Society) - Membership, Professionalism and Leadership for ICT Professionals and the ICT Community and the FAQ gives details of the various means to get qualifications assessed.
You also need to have a look at the skilled visa eligibility chart and if anything it may be a state sponsorship 176 visa you may have to apply for to get sufficient points.
Also on the skilled visa pages, check out the What's New page re the change scheduled for mid this year as that could also impact on you being able to get sufficient points.

Thanks a lot,

One of my friend's relative have the same qualificaiton and he just get a positive response from ACS few days ago.

I checked the new point system which is expected to be in place from July, 2011. With IELTS 7 band i can make required 65 points.

Now I am planning for the ACS Pre-application Skills Assessment. Could any body provide me a checklist (or some good links) for the required ACS documents and along with online applicaton is it necessary to post hard copies of all the documents to ACS as well?

The ACS SITE is about your best link and when you make online applications for a qualification assessment or a visa, the whole idea is to upload documents to do away with the paper processing.

Thanks again,

I go through the documents available on ACS's website, at one locaiton they state that

1.3. If you are reluctant to approach your current employer for a statement of service that you need for your application, you may submit a personal statement on a properly signed and witnessed Statutory Declaration. The Statutory Declaration is to detail as a minimum:

  • the reason/s why you are submitting a Statutory Declaration; and
  • all the necessary detail about your employment experience.
It will be highly appreciated if someone could provide a sample document or provide some more guidlines about the content to be placed in the Statutory Declaration.
