Hi All,

I've been on a 457 for the past 4 years (just renewed for another two... 'last' two these days).

I've also just been made redundant.

I was planning to apply for PR anyway, but I'm looking on DIBP site and it looks like the skilled migration requirements may have changed with this latest round of general visa updates.

I believe that I'd have to use the skilled visa, #189. I hope that is not my *only* option, as I believe a requirement is that you can't be over 45 years of age? I'm 48, soon 49.

Hopefully someone has some good news. But if not, would appreciate it if you could confirm that my understanding is correct.

Thanks to all.

Unfortunately , the age limit for general skilled migration is now 45. Sc. 457 visa holders over 45, but under 50 can still apply for 186 and 187 visas/ TRT stream during the transition period.
