Hi,

I applied for my partner visa in July 2020 and have received an invitation to comment on my past relationships. When I applied for my first student visa from India I had submitted a translated affidavit saying I was divorced and moving to Australia and studying here was my one chance at having a good life. Since the marriage was only by Muslim culture and was never really registered legally in India I almost had forgotten that it needs to be mentioned in my partner visa application. The DHA have now come back saying they have an affidavit saying I was divorced once and now I am saying I was not in any previous relationship. How do I go about this and what should I say in reply. The truth is I forgot I had ever submitted an affidavit and that it was an oversight.

Thank you for your help

From what you have posted, it does not look good.

My first thought is that you will probably be refused a visa and finish up in the AAT.
If you were in a nikah mut'ah relationship you might be able to win.
May I suggest that you consult a registered migration agent for advice about strategy?
