Job skills

Hi, myself, partner and 3 children are hoping to emigrate. My partners actual job title isn't under any of the skilled occupation lists, however he has many if not all of the experience and skills listed on other occupations. Can he use one of those occupations to get a visa even though he's not actually doing that particular job? Hope someone can help with this. TIA sarah
