as you holding visa subclass 600 you are not eligible for medicare even you have already been applied for 309 ( which not granted yet )
you can enroll for medicare from the date you apply for 309, but your medicare only active when you enter AU with 309 visa not 600,
this info i got it from other non English platform, someone got same situation and she ends up paid everything in AU
you better call medicare to confirm, don't listen uncles here

Medicare clearly say you are eligible from the date you apply for the 309 or 820, as long as you are in Australia.

This includes if you’ve applied for a combined spouse visa 309/100 or 820/801.

There have been cases where the Medicare staff get it wrong, and give the incorrect information.

The info I got was from doing it for my wife. So first hand knowledge. How many threads from different people on these forums that did the same would you like?
Applies while she was here on tourist visa and used it on the same tourist visa for some doctors appointments prior to the grant of the partner visa. And have known people since who have done the same.
My wife is thai so fully understand the need to be careful of the "someone say, they say" which is why you always need to do your own research.
But we can show you offical sources as well as personal anecdotal evidence to support our information.
If you can provide official information that supports your claims by all means. If in wrong I prefer to be corrected and learn.

It is clear that Applicant of 309 can apply for medicare.
However, I am trying to find actual time taken for the medicare number to get generated.
My wife got hers the same day, when she did it after applying for the 820. She did it at a Medicare office, and was given a temporary paper with the registration on it.

That was before Covid. I've assumed things might have gone back to normal now.

But maybe not?

If it was me, I would fill in the form, and take it in to an office and see what happens.

They may prefer online, or post, but might accept a walk in.

Centrelink do try to get people to do things on the computer, but I tend to tell them it's too confusing for me. (Really I just want them to do it.)

I recieved medicare...We need to submit the documents over email and call them after one week.
They share the number over call and send the medicare card over post.
