Dear All,

I'm a permanent resident in Australia and my wife is currently on Student Visa living in Australia. My wife is hoping to lodge an application for Partner Visa (801/820) soon.

I would like to know whether my wife will be eligible for Medicare after she will lodge her partner visa application because she is already on Student visa. Her student visa expires in April 2019. Is it a requirement to be on a bridging visa to be eligible for Medicare.

Really appreciate any response on this.

Cheers,

Hi Skybluebrewer,

Thanks for your reply and yes I already read this page. However I was confused with a post on this forum who had a similar situation. That person mentioned they had to wait until their bridging visa kicks in to be eligible for Medicare. They were on student visa at the time lodging partner visa.

I'm just trying to find out if anyone else already faced this kind of situation and what was their experience.

Cheers,
