I think it is best to explain in detail my current situation and hope I can get some advice.

My wife and I have been married for almost 10 years. I am Australian and my wife is on a permanent residency. We have to children, the oldest 7 this year and both are Australian citizens. So my wife is the only one not a citizen.

What makes it complicated is that we have lived outside of Australia almost all of these 10 years together with only 490 days spent in Australia in total due to regular home visits. We do to live in Australia because of my work. I work in the hotel industry and have worked in Asia and Middle East.

We are now going to apply for citizenship using ministerial discretion. We both pay taxes every year in Australia, we own property in Australia and have a mortgage we both pay. And as mentioned we have two children. Also there is no issue with the rrv. Had the original 5 years then currently on one year at a time.

My question to those with experience in this matter, do we have a chance for approval based on what I have mentioned? We have contracts to show my work kept me overseas and that contracts included family. The other question is, does my wife need to be in Australia when applying and getting possible approval.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts.
