Hi, I am an Australian citizen who returned to Australia in 2012 after living in US and UK for 20 years. I brought with me my American husband who came on a permanent residency visa.
We have three children, have lived in 3 different countries, and we are all dual (or dual + citizens) and thought we were really experienced with not getting into immigration pickles. However right now we've got into a pickle over my husband's Resident Return Visa which we had no idea even existed - we took the description of 'permanent resident' at face value, and have managed to set off on an overseas trip without realising his permission to travel had expired.
We're still trying to figure out the implications - but I'll leave that for a different forum. Meanwhile just wanted to say I'm glad you're all here and that this forum and others like it helped us all a lot when we were emigrating from UK to Aus in 2012 - which all went smoothly. Hope we can fix things now!
