Hi everyone, im new here, Im an Australian citizen by decent. I have two children from my previous marriage. I remarried in December last year to my partner of 3 years in Fiji. My husband is still in Fiji. He applied for a visitors visa to visit my children and I here in Australia twice and they both got refused. On his last refusal, he was given 70 days to have his application reviewed by the Tribunal here in Australia. Rather than taking the option to see the Tribunal, I flew over to Fiji with my 2 children over two months ago to spend at least 2 weeks with my husband. We didn't want to be dissapointed again if the Tribunal refused than it would be money wasted, might as well fly over and see my husband which was worth it. My next steps is to bring him over. He has been unemployed though for two years but he has been farming while im here. I have been back at work, casual fulltime for over a year now and i have been able to support my husband as its not worth him working for $2.50 an hour in Fiji. I earn just over 30K net and just over 28K Gross. Am I elligible to sponsor him over or do I need an Assurance of Support. What steps do I need to follow? Please help.

Hi I responded to bring Mark's attention to your post, he is a registered migration agent who provide advice here free. You will need to probably provide a lot more detail though for him to assist you

I would like to bring my husband over from Fiji to be with me here in Australia, he is unemployed, he is farming his uncles farm. What steps do I need to take to bring him over so he can be with me and my two children? My kids know him very well. I want to apply for a spouse Visa, how long will it take to process, would I need to apply for a tourist visa as well as a spouse visa? How much money would I need to have in our joint bank account. Is adviceable to visit my local MP for assistance in support letter? I would like to do it the right legal way in getting my husband over here in Australia. Anyone's assistance in information here would be highly appreciated..Margi.
