But I would love to!
My name is Emma, I live in Portugal (Lisbon), with my daughter Teresa. She's 12 years old. I have a job here in Lisbon.
Nevertheless, I am considering working abroad. A new beginning ....
I have very little information about the job market in Australia and on immigration policy.
Here in Europe there are many recruitment sites for new jobs. They conduct a selection process and the presence of the applicant is not required (interviews are conducted via Skype, for example). The mobility between European countries is easier, but I understand that in Australia it will be very different ... Can I submit my CV for jobs in Australia without being the holder of a visa? or is it mandatory to have one?
Thank you!

Hi Emma!
It might be more useful to post your questions on the 'jobs forum' :)
It is always worth trying to apply for jobs, but it might be very difficult without a visa to actually get the job...unless you find a company to sponsor you.
5 years ago I went with a working holiday visa to Melbourne, I started looking for a job, as an architect, about two months in advance. I had several interviews lined up in the first week I was there and from the second week on I could start working. I was pretty lucky, but also because I could go to AU with that visa! Later on the company tried to be my sponsor to get me a skilled working visa, but unfornatuly they were not able to meet the strict criteria to be a sponsor...small companies don't make a big chance to be a sponsor.
Anyway, I think it is worth browsing through the immi website for options. And I think there are also possibilities if you would have your own Portuguese business, creating contacts with businesses in AU...
Or if you can find Portuguese businesses with departments in AU...
There are possibilities, but you need a loooot of time :)

digging :)

Hi KNJV!
Thank you for your reply. I realized that it is not an obvious way and that maybe my plans are too ambitious. I do not have the conditions to leave Portugal and go to Australia to do an active search. I live alone with my daughter, she studies and so it is quite impossible that solution.
I'm trying to figure out which websites are credible, those that might at least consider my CV. I have tried to investigate Portuguese companies that have interests in Australia but it is not a known market, there is very little information available.
Considering my professional experience (external relations - a degree in International Relations) I want to focus my search in larger enterprises and exploiting the fact that I am trilingual (Portuguese, French and Italian).
I'll follow your advice about the "jobs forum".
Best regards,
Emma
