Hi
My name is Eldon. I did my masters in Melbourne and after its completion in 2008, I applied for my Temporary residence. At the moment I am on my T.R and it would expire this year in November. I had few questions regarding it :

1) Is there a rule where an individual can apply for a second T.R ?

2) I have tried tried writing my IELTS many times nw but I have not achieved the desired score of 7 in reading. I am hoping for the best but just incase I dont is there any other way other than IELTS. as I am running short of 20 points.

3) Currently I am in not in australia, I have been applying for IELTS in my native place as seats are easier to get than melbourne. Can I apply for an offshore visa or has the visa requirement changed as of 2010, in the sense I wil have to apply onshore and not offshore.

4) Is there any other ways of getting my PR other than IELTS ??

Appreciate whoever can reply to my question.
thanx

It does help if you turn the lights on fully rather than just jeave them dimmed and if I take a stab in the dark and assume you currently have a 485 visa, that is there to give people who have studied in Australia an opportunity to get some Australian work experience and as well as living in Australia, employment should help with english.

Applying for another TR visa, there are really only the student visas.
If you are offshore, you can look at the eligibility requirements for the offshore visas and see if you can get sufficient points, there being the 475 visa for instance but before you decide on that there will be changes that should be implemented well before the end of the year.

The eligibility process for independent skilled visas has a points assessment based on a number of areas including education and work experience in Australia for onshore visas but if you have been out of Australia for a lengthier period that could affect your eligibility to apply for onshore visas and certainly you may be eroding your chance to get points for Australian work experience.
