Hi Kam143,

as you said from this moment onwards it is a waiting game.
Depending on where you or your partner is from and how much evidence you supplied at lodgement your first contact should be within a year. most countries within the first 6 months.

if you haven't front loaded your application with medical and police clearances that will be the first email from immigration to look out for. if you have uploaded everything and they dont require anything else from you you may not get any contact at all until you get your grant.

Make sure you keep uploading documents as often as possible to show a continuing relationship. and make sure your sponsorship application is lodged asap, as all sponsorship applications will be processed first through the Perth office in Australia. once the sponsorship application has passed the screening in Perth your application will get sent to the applicants country for processing

PS. Sponsorship application is not a Form 40sp

Keep in mind i am not a migration agent this is all information i have gathered and read up on since the changes in July 2018.

Thanks for your reply,

But do you have any idea how long is it actually taking for Bangladeshi applicants. Someone said, they got their visa in 6 months. Also please suggest me whether I should apply for a visitor visa or not??
Your application is at the New Delhi office. And according to the document for Offshore approvals. Its around 223 days which 7.4 months. The Berlin office which is 191. And I have heard most people for the Berlin office have a Visa Granted in that median stage timeframe from this document. Hope this helps. Document link below.

No one can be sure. The median for your area appears to be 7.4 months, and that means that half the grants will be done in 7.4 months or under, and half will be 7.4 months or more.

I have seen 309 decisions take between 4 months and 21 months.

True nothing is 100% but if he creates a good application with lots of evidence he can be closer to that timeframe. Medical and Police checks from sponsor(AFP) and applicant upfront. Continued monthly updates of evidence(Photos, Screenshots of chat, facebook). Joint Bank accounts and Wills, Super Annuation Beneficiaries. Travel boarding passes (very important and helps a lot)

Looking at past applications for Berlin office from this forum they have been very close to the median time frame. Small percentage over.

Going by the freedom of information documents on immi site for 2019 there are Global 244,000 applicants at this time, 11390 refused at 15months. So most applicants under 15months with no complications don't get refused, above 15months is a worry. Just going by statistics and giving everyone hope.

Complications can mean anything unusual.
eg:

Reasons for Partner Visa Refusals

The most common reason for visa refusals is failing to provide enough, and the right kind of, evidence with your application.

Fake documentation is another major cause of a visa rejection. It is also a cause of delays in some applications, where a specific country may have more fake documentation that others, and cause extra checks for everyone from that area.

Not replying to documentation requests in time, is another cause of refusals.
Under Migration law a visa application can be determined based on your submissions with the application. They do not need to request any further evidence from you. They can reject an application even for missing Police Checks, or Medicals, if they wish to. Most times they will ask, but if your application is borderline, they can choose to reject if some requirements have not yet been uploaded.

A visa application can also be rejected for criminal history or health problems.

Visa applications can also be rejected if the sponsor has already sponsored two applicants during their lifetime, or if a second application is decided within 5 years of a previous application.

If a really good application is done, with nothing against it, then it should be in the 50% under the median processing time, which you said was 7.4 months for his location.. (median being half under and half over)

Some recent 309 grants this year.

From Canada. 309 granted on 05/01/19 after 18.4 months.
From Pakistan. 309 granted on 11/01/19 after 10.2 months.
From UK. 309 granted on 26/02/19 after 9 months.
From USA. 309 granted on 12/03/19 after 12 months.
From USA. 309 granted on 15/03/19 after 12 months.
From USA. 309 granted on 21/03/19 after 11.2 months.

Hi
I’m applying the same visa and I’m looking for reliable consultancy as I’m willing to apply partner visa. Just to add my previous history, It’s my second marriage I’ve got this PR (subclass189 )(24 April 2017) from my ex-husband. When I came Australia my ex-husband was on bridging visa I joined him in that visa at (25 jun 2016) then after few months we applied for PR Together, may be 3 or 4 months after we got PR on (24 April 2017) then after one year we ended up with divorce on (31 March 2018). Later by the end of 2018 I remarried In Pakistan and now I’m back in Australia willing to apply for my husband. Suggest me if I’m eligible or not? If yes then go through the sponsor limitation and guide me in that so I can proceed Thank you.

Hi all,

Sorry for the long post but I can't start a thread yet and this seemed like the most appropriate place to ask this.

My wife and I applied for a partner visa 309 around 2 months ago and today I received an email requesting for more information and the status changed to initial assessment. but I don't understand what information is the CO is looking for. The checklist attachment is not clear at all and basically is listing every possible document for this visa.

here is the part of the attachment with the list of documents:
See the attached "Request Detail", which provides a detailed explanation relating to the
checklist item(s) listed below.
Ensure your application is complete - incomplete applications may be refused
In addition to the items listed in the attached "Request Detail", you should ensure that
your application is complete and up-to-date. The Partner Migration Booklet provides a detailed list of evidence you
should provide with your application. You should review this booklet and your application and
urgently attach any outstanding documents to your application via ImmiAccount.
If you cannot provide all the necessary documents, you should attached a statement clearly
outing what documents are missing and when you expect to be able to provide them.
If you have not provided all the necessary documents, the Department may make a decision
based on the information you have provided. It is therefore in your interests to support your
visa application with as much information as possible.
In particular, if you have not already done so, you should check that you have provided
police clearances for both the applicant and the sponsor.

Applicant police clearances (if not already provided)
Sponsor police clearance (if not already provided)

Our office frequently finds that applicants have not provided evidence to demonstrate that
their relationship is genuine and continuing. Below is a summary of the types of evidence you
may provide, if you have not already done so:
Supporting evidence that your relationship is genuine and continuing
Two of Form 888 - Statutory declaration by a supporting witness in relation to a Partner or a
Prospective Marriage visa application (84KB PDF).
Other evidence may include but is not limited to the following. You should include as many of
the following documents as possible:
A statement about your relationship
Documents that show you and your partner share financial responsibilities
Documents that show that you and your partner share household responsibilities
Documents that show your relationship is known by others and socially recognised
Documents to show you are committed to each other to and a long term relationship
Documents about other relationships
Documents to prove your identity

The information provided below explains the requirements relating to the checklist item(s)
listed above.
Request Detail
(this part was empty)
I should note that we have uploaded many documents for different categories (marriage cert, birth cert, relationship statements, 5 888 forms, photos, will, super, joint bank account, text messages,... also front loaded medical and police checks, but not a lot of documents for the financial and household since we just got married 3 months ago but we have been together for more than 5 years.

Has anyone received a request with this many items in the list like this? I noticed all of the items say if not already provided, Is this like a generic checklist to let us know If I have anything else now is the time to send as they have begun assessing the application? Or is there something seriously wrong with our application?
Hi Adrian, I got the same email on November 28,it was like a checklist that contained all the documents while I had uploaded some before, like pcc and etc. I logged on October 1st and received the document request Email on November 28. CO asked me to complete documents in 70 days.

Zol - same thing with us. 5 years together and no 309. I called the helpline and they were useless as tits on a bull. So I contacted the embassy that approved it and they said they forgot to issue the 100. The next day they issued it.
Oh Nice, congrats. That's a weight off.

Which Embassy was it?
Tried this approach and got an odd response along the lines of "your visa is still under process and we will let you know once we made a decision on the 100". Don't know if to interpret that as the two year wait or they might still consider the 100 now

You will know when they ask for more documents. They will have a email signature with the embassy. Also i think the confirmation document has that info too.
