Hi karinata,

Can you advise how many times you left and came back on your eta and was it a problem? My husband is also from Malaysia and is on an eta from May and had re-entered once already. His 3 months is expiring in 2 weeks and his visa approval is yet to be granted for his 309. We applied in December 2017 and it has been a long wait since then..

hi irina,
i left once on the eta. the second time i left, it was requested so that my visa could be granted to me. re-entering australia wasn't an issue for me - the immigration officer only asked what was the purpose of my visit and i was honest to say that i was visiting my husband who has permanent residency. did your husband apply offshore from malaysia as well?

Hi everyone,

I am Australian and my girlfriend is American, we have been in a relationship nearly 4 years, living together 1.5 years at time of lodgement. We live in NZ, which is where we lodged the application.

Our timeline so far:
Applied: 19 March 2019
S56 RFI: 5 August 2019 (AFP clearance for applicant)
Doc uploaded: 11 September

My partner received a S56 RFI for her AFP clearance (she lived in Aus for 11 months so we did not submit this initially but all other PCCs and medicals were front-loaded) which we uploaded on 11 September. Does this mean we are potentially close to getting a grant? I'm a bit worried that we will have to wait for a few more months since almost all people I've seen that got their grant soon after, it was within a month of uploading the requested docs. Any advice would be great.

Bridging Visa 309

Hi All,

I had applied for my wife's spouse visa 309 on 27 May 2019. She came to Melbourne on the 4th of September on Tourist Visa.

She is still in Melbourne and will be flying back on the 26th of November.

My question is that, in the visa application portal, I can see an option to apply for a bridging visa.
Can I apply for one, so that she can stay with me until 309 gets granted? Am I allowed/eligible to do so?
Can its refusal hamper the 309 application?

Thanks
Ishesh

We had our first and only S56 RFI (simple doc request) 12 weeks ago, we provided it within 7 days and have heard nothing since - we got all excited for nothing..

Global visa processing times have been updated. Specifically for 309, no change for the 75%, still at 16 months, whereas 90% has dropped from 21 months to 20 months.

My wife has applied for a 309 in May 2019. I think ours is a stright forward application without any complications. But I'm not expecting until Jan/Feb 2020
We have applied for a through an agent from Sri Lanka.

I know we have jumped the gun, but I already have purchased a ticket to come to Melbourne in March 2020. visa doesn't come in time, I would like her to come to Melbourne with a visitor visa.
Question 1:Will a visitor visa have any affect on the 309 application? (I know she will need to return to Sri Lanka to have the visa granted)

Also, make it unnecessarily complex, soon after she comes to Melbourne, we are planning to make a holiday to an overseas country.
Quetion 2: So she will need multiple entry visior visa. 600 and 651 seems very similar. Which one gives Multiple entry?
Question 3: She will need to be sponsored by me. Seems like 600 mentions family sponsorship. Correct?

Thanks in advance
Hi there,

My husband has also applied for 309 from Sri Lanka in June 2019. Let's keep each other informed of any updates! There's also another thread specifically for Sri Lanka btw

Can I just as a quick question, when we do the application: would we use two separate Immi accounts for applicant and sponsor? Thanks
Doesn't matter, you can use two separate immi accounts or the same one. In our case, we used mine (Sponsor) for both applications.
