The problem with the official processing times is they are too vague.

In March 2021 they say that 75% took under 22 months.

Some actual times:
  • 309+100 Granted 28 Apr 2021 – Applied Nov 2020. Canadian. Processed in 5 months. (Defacto 2017)
  • 309 Granted 7 Apr 2021 – Applied 17 Feb 2021. Turkish. Processed in Turkey, in 1.5 months.
  • 309 Granted 4 Apr 2021 – Applied 5 Jan 2021. Swedish. Processed in Berlin, in 3 months.
It varies a lot, with 25% that took over 22 months in March.

Some people do the medicals quickly, and get a quick grant, but some might end up doing them again, if their application is not straightforward.
I'll say! Those are insanely good processing times, imo.

Yeah, I was reading some people here got theirs granted super quick lately. Hubby and I have been married for 12 years (together for 16), him and daughter have Australian Citizenship, so maybe it's not too complicated as well. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long and redo any of it... already wasted 100 bucks doing 2 police checks at different places, lol.

There have been a lot of fast grants recently, especially with the longer relationships.
From 12 subclass 309 grants that I have seen last month, four of them took under 2 months, and two more took under 6 months. (75% took under 10 months)

In 2019-20 the average processing time for a subclass 309 visa was 11 months, with 75% being under 15 months.
In 2018-19 the average processing time for a subclass 309 visa was 10.6 months, with 75% being under 13 months.

The problem with times is when you look at deeper statistics such as this:
In December 2020, the fastest 25% took an average of 7 months. The next 25% took an average of 12 months. The next 25% took an average of 19 months...
