Hi everyone,
I am a 24 year old Australian citizen and my partner is Ecuadorian. We have been together for 2.5 years and lived together for 1.5. We have almost finished gathering our documents to apply! However we have a problem proving that we have lived together for the full 12 months as we lived with his family for 9 months when I first arrived (we've lived alone for the last 7 months). Just wondering if anyone has been in this situation or has any advice on evidence we could provide for when we lived with his parents? We have a statement from them but didn't pay and bills or. Receive any mail at the address together. Also another option is to get married to avoid the 12 month rule but were not sure if it would look weird on the application that we got married suddenly. Thanks!

You have to provided evidence of being in a de facto relationship (not necessarily living together) for at least the 12 months immediately preceding a partner visa application.
