I'm a little confused, does anyone know if medicals have to be submitted with onshore applications for partner visas or if we should submit the application without the medicals and wait until requested, if requested?

If I need to do medicals with the application which medicals do I have to do?
The applicant is South Korean if that changes anything, thank you.

Hi DJEJ,

Its totally up to you.. you can either wait for immigrations to request your medicals or do them and submit them with the application. if you asked me I would submit it all together as it would decrease the amount of time for processing. I submitted my partner visa with all the documents required, plus my medicals and I got my visa within 2 weeks.

Hi all, I'm going to do my medicals in advance so It's off my mind. I'm applying onshore as well. Quick question - I've read the results can take a couple of weeks, does Medibank send the results to you and then you include them in your application or do they get sent straight to immi? Thanks!

Yip the results will take around 2 weeks and they send you an envelope marked "DO NOT OPEN" - obviously do not open it and just post it with your application to immigrations

Hi guys,

I'd just like to add that DIAC has officially stated that front loading applications with medicals before lodging is not acceptable, as of October last year. Now, I don't know if this is just for offshore apps, or if this applies to onshore ones as well.

I am in South Korea at the moment, and the embassy site clearly says that if applicants do the medical before requested, the application will not be considered. So, I would contact the office you intend to lodge at and just make sure.

Hi Aussiegirl,

Thanks for letting us know. I'll give thenm a call as I haven't heard this before that they wll refuse an application?! I know lots of people who have submitted their medicals this year with their application, all of them applying onshore. I know there is concern regarding the medicals expiry date as some visas are taking up to 12 months.

I've checked the immi website and it states "You may attend your health examination before lodging your application for a visa as it is a formal requirement for some visas. Please check the detailed information provided on the visa application form to confirm when you need to undergo a health examination."

And then when you look on the appliaction checklist it states that you add "Details of whether or not you have undertaken your health checks, and if so, details of the dates and location your health checks took place."

So from that I'm taking that you can have your medical beforehand? Surely they would have updated their website by now. By the way for offshore it does say "Do not attend a health examination before you lodge your visa application unless the information about your visa specifically asks you to do so. Otherwise, you will be advised by the department if and when to attend a health examination."

wow did u say you got your visa in 2 weeks? can you provide more details? eg. which state u applied at, what country you are from (do u think this matters?), anything in particular you put in your application? my boyfriend is coming over from the uk and the immi site says it takes 6 months to process the application..

any help/ advice u can offer would be great thankyou!

hey,

yeah, I was very surprised because I am from South Africa (High risk country) however I had been here for 12 months on a 457 visa anyways.

I live in NSW (Sydney) and we did a relationship registration because we haven't even been dating a year let alone living together that long.

The day I applied I got a letter from DIAC saying that it would take 9 months for processing but I honestly believe they factor in time to request for additional documents and include the time it takes to send those documents. Example. they request medicals. you book, you go and only 2 weeks later do you receive results.. you send them in and there goes 3 weeks...

I included my medicals, my ozzie police clearance, my sa police clearance, 6 declarations + personal ones from my partner and I... I included 20 odd pics from holidays, pics with my parents here from SA - I also put descriptions and dates at the back of the pics...

I also added my partner as a beneficiary of my superfund and she did the same. I changed her Telstra bill into my name.. I printed out my Optus mobile bill and highlighted my partners number to show how many times and for how long we chat etc..

Some will argue and say they disagree with me but I believe give as much as possible and all of it and you also gotta be lucky to hit the right CO but if you do then boom :)
