Hi everyone, just going through the final stages of 820/801

Having lived in the US ( Au. citizen ) I'm required to provide a FBI and US State police check.

Processing time is 12-14 weeks for this from the States.

However, the Department has requested this returned within 28 days.

1. Has anyone run into this?
2. Should I apply and inform the Department?
3. Does anyone know if there is a way to speed the process up in the US? I assume not knowing the US.
4. Any advice welcome, thanks Nicholas

The new option of submitting electronically drastically speeds up the process.

Current processing time for Identity History Summary requests submitted electronically is estimated to be three to five business days upon receipt of the fingerprint card. Allow additional time for mail delivery if this option was selected during the request process.
As long as you can submit evidence that you are working on getting the FBI check within the 28 day timeframe, that is acceptable. Back when it was all done by post I took pictures of our completed forms, and I also posted to the FBI by registered post so that I had proof of posting as well as tracking information.
