I have a friend who has a multiple-entry visitor visa.

She usually stays the full 3 months every time and leaves on the exact date.

However, in this latest situation, she is supposed to leave AU today but misses her flight by 30 minutes. She has to buy another ticket for a flight out the next day.

Are there any possible consequences for staying more than the 3-month period?

• if the person left Australia within 28 days after a substantive visa held by the person ceased to be in effect
  
• a bridging visa held by the person at the time of departure was granted within 28 days after a substantive visa held by the person ceased to be in effect
