Hello all,

I am an Aussie living In the UK, and have recently applied for British Citizenship.

However, my de-facto partner and I are now looking to move to Australia, and wanting to submit the offshore visa application as soon as possible (given lengthy waiting times).

The waiting times for the UK Citizenship have also recently blown out to 3-6 months, due to a mass rush for immigrants to apply before a new English language requirement became law in Oct 2013.

Does anyone know whether it would be an issue to have my application for British Citizenship pending with the UK Home Office, and submitting an Australian De-facto visa application for my partner now at the same time?

I note that question 9 on the 40SP form requires that I advise I have citizenship of another country other than Australia – if I haven’t received a decision by the time I we submit the defacto partner visa application, can I just notify the case officer once one has been assigned?

Thanks.
