I just have a few questions about my situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What exactly is a resident who usualy resides in australia?

I am currently studying in South Africa and got my Aus perminant residence a while back. Recently I succesfully got a job in Australia and me and my girlfriend want to move to Aus, by applying for a partner visa for her.

We have been together for 5 years now, but we do not live together. We live 1km from one another and I sleep there 4 times a week minimum. The reason we do not live together is because we both are studying and cannot afford it.

Will we still be able to get a partner visa seeing as we do not work together?

Also, we do not have any financial assets we share, seeing as we both still studying and do not have much money ot work with.

Thanks for any help!

When you say you got your PR a while back, did you go to Australia to validate the visa and how long ago was a while back!
That will determine your residency status.
As to whether you can sponsor someone as a partner it'll need to be shown that a relationship exists as indicated in the Immi visa information and have a good read of Booklet #1

I got my PR in 2007 and validated it. I have a bank account in Australia, have a place to stay next year and a good job, but I was out of Australia to finish my studies.

Is it imperative that we actually live together?

What does this mean: "how that you and your partner are living together or, if not, that any separation is only temporary;"?

Does that mean that, if we do not live together, we still see each other daily or often?

I stay at her place at least 4 times a week. We can't live together permenantly because of financial reasons and her farther would not allow it yet. He wants me to be financially stable.

I would not go dwelling on any one or two aspects of what is in the eligibility requirements but have a look at the total descriptions given in the Immi information, there being examples under CAQ questions of the 12 months relationship requirement in the eligibility sections and you can make a judgement on how well you think you may comply.

I have spoken to the Australian High Commision and it seems like we need to actually live together for 12months to qualify.
