Hi all I submitted my application for my 309 visa close to 6 months ago. When I submitted my application I filled out the "Stage 1- Partner or prospective marriage visa online application" but we didn't fill out the "Sponsorship for a Partner to migrate to Australia" application. Once I started attaching documents to my application I saw in the attachments section there was 100 attachments allowed under my name and 100 documents allowed under my sponsor. Because his name was showing up under my application and attachments under his name I figured there was no need to fill out a separate "Sponsorship for a Partner to migrate to Australia" application. We also filled out the 40sp form in paper, scanned, and uploaded it under his name already, all of this under MY application.

Did I make a stupid mistake by not filling out the sponsorship application as well? I looked on the homeaffairs website partner visa 309 and nowhere does it say the sponsor has to fill out a separate online application or maybe I missed this information somehow? I have had no contact from any CO since submitting and we frontloaded with medicals and police checks as well. Thanks for any advice I'm a bit worried that I should have done this step as well but I didnt find it as a requirement on the website even though both application options are available when submitting online.

Sponsor documents: You can lodge your sponsorship form online after your partner has lodged their visa application and given you their Transaction Reference Number (TRN) or application ID.

You can lodge the form using your partner's ImmiAccount or your own ImmiAccount.

You didn't make a stupid mistake, but you'll probably be asked to do it anyway once they get to your app.

EDIT: Sorry never mind I just read it can be done on my own or my partners. thank you

Sorry have another question, just going through the sponsorship application with my partner and seeing that most of the information was also included in my application form. Since we typed the statements together for financial aspects of the relationship, nature of the household, social aspects, etc should we just copy and paste the statements we submitted under my application? does he have to write his own statements so they are different from mine? (i dont mean different information just a different statement than was previously submitted?)

They are in the applicant's app because they want the applicant to answer and they ask again in the sponsor app because they want the sponsor to answer. Having the same questions in both was intentional. Those answers count as the statements so best to just let the sponsor answer the in their own words.

Ok thank you so much. Been kicking myself all day for not being more careful with the application. My partner is on a business trip so he wont get to it until this weekend. If the sponsorship application is needed and i have had no contact to request it since i applied 6 months ago does it mean they probably have not looked at my application? Would they refuse a visa if the sponsorship application is missing or just CO would send an email requesting it?

One last question sorry, really appreciate all the advice you have given me, just concerned about another small detail related to paper/online forms. Back when I first submitted my application I made a mistake on my form and i submitted a pdf form of the 1023 notification and uploaded the pdf to my application under the "Other category". I see there is also an online form to fill out right under Update details within my application. Its key information the one I made a mistake on but now i'm second guessing whether I should have done the online form or uploading the pdf paper was enough seeing as how I missed the online sponsorship and only uploaded the paper pdf form. Not sure if the pdf file was enough or it will be overlooked and I should be doing the online 1023
