Hi all, just joined Australia Forum today wanting to get more info on getting a visa for my partner to live in Oz. I am 52 yrs old, an Australian citizen for 25 years, my partner has been living in the US for 10 years, and is a US green cardholder. We were both originally from the Philippines. We met each other in the states whilst I was there on holidays in 2016, got to know each other better, started our relationship in June 2018 and became exclusive to each other. I have visited him in the US last Nov 2018, he came to visit me in Feb 2019 and we both went to the Philippines in June 2019. I have already booked a holiday to be with him again in Nov 2019. We have now decided to permanently live together and we chose Australia to be our home. He was able to obtain a 1 year multiple entry visitor visa to Australia which will expire on 10 Jan 2020, thankfully without a No Further Stay restriction. We are planning for him to arrive here early in the New Year so we can apply for a Partner Visa onshore for him. We have been in an LDR relationship for over 12 months. We share expenses when we are together, we have photos together with families when we are on holidays, we have a commitment to a shared life, and our relationship is authentic. Does our relationship meet the criteria for defacto relationship? On his arrival, we can open a joint account prior to lodging the visa. We cannot register our relationship here in QLD as we both have been previously married and haven't filed for divorce yet, in my case, I have been separated from my ex partner for 20 years. I hope someone can clarify this for me. Thank you in advance.
