A few more specific questions for those applicants currently pending a 309 application while onshore on an expiring tourist visa:

  1. Is there a need to cancel a BVA as soon as the 309 is approved and ready for activation?
  2. Once the 309 is approved and ready for activation, is there a specific deadline to leave Australia to actually activate the 309 grant?
  3. Once the 309 is approved and ready for activation within x month, can one stay in Australia during that timeframe, either on BVA or within the allowed approved tourist visa extension?
  4. After the 309 is approved and ready for activation can one still apply for an extension of tourist visa while onshore (provided the current tourist visa allows that) or will filing for extension after 309 approval then interfere with the 309 application itself?

We are hoping to be able to add some flexibility for a few month to stay onshore in Australia while waiting out either the 309 onshore concession announced by Alan Tudge or until travel restrictions are lifted to ensure one can return to Australia after having left to activate the 309.
