Ok So I've uploaded as much stuff as possible.
I never filled out a form 80 for the 820 and had no problems, however I was just wondering - did you guys do a form 80 for the 801 assessment application? Has anybody ever been asked for one? I'm from a low risk country so I doubt it would be needed, but just curious

I don't think it is fake news.

Some PDF files that have been compressed are rejected by the upload process.

It is something to do with the variations in PDF format. I have had the same issue, and had to switch to jpg to upload.

There is another statement where immigration do not accept compressed files, but that relates to compression into zip format. ZIP compressed files are not accepted.
JandE is correct. It states in Immiaccount ....

Visa applications (including Sponsorship and Nomination applications)

*You can attach files up to 5MB in size with the following extensions: bmp, dcm, doc, docx, dot, gif, jpg, pdf, png, ppt, pptx, rtf, txt, xls, xlsx.
*Compressed files and encrypted pdf files cannot be accepted.

Hi everyone, just found this group while looking for some information for my visa.
I applied for my 801 visa in June 2018 via post. We want to supply some more evidence but can’t find anything about it... it’s by my understanding that now you have to apply online? Even if you applied via post previously... I’ve tried emailing them but no response yet. Do I have to create an online account just to provide more evidence? I just got an confirmation in the mail (they returned the checklist signed in the mail) that they received it in June 2018.
I got my 820 visa approved in February 2017, just 7,5 months after we initially applied in June 2016. Was hoping it wouldn’t take too long this time either. Last time I sent in more evidence in end of January 2017 and 2 weeks later got an email it was approved. Was hoping I could do the same now and maybe speed it up a little haha.

Hi guys, just submitted my 801 and it’s gone straight to - Applications Status: Further Assesment. Anyone else experienced this? I haven’t attached any documents yet. Thanks 🙂

There is a form that you can fill in that outlines a change in contact or passport details - its a 929 form. You have to do that if you are going to be 'living' somewhere else more than 2 weeks. We filled it in when we recently travelled back to Tanzania for a 4 week holiday. Did a form that gave our Tanzania address and then when got home did a form that showed our normal address as the contact address again. Seems silly I know, but we did it so we were still on their radar and 'doing the right thing'. I also registered both of us with the DFTA that we were travelling too.
Hope this helps

Waiting Time

Hi guys, what do you reckon is the real average time for the 801. I have applied last October and have been waiting 4ish months since. Is there anyone in the same boat with same dates I can connect with?
I have seen the dates provided on the Immi website but with a bit statistics, it does not give you a lot of details. It says that 75% percent of the applications received will be processed from the first moment they have arrived to department and up to 19 months. However, it doesn't say that the average is 9.5 months.

That 75% is from the eligibility date, even if you lodge later.

From the 801 spreadsheet on this forum, in 2018, the median was 11.2 months. ie: Half took 11.2 months or under, and half took 11.2 months or over.

Overall, between 6.2 and 23.7 months.

The first 25% were done in under 8.5 months. (6.2 months, 7.9 months, 8.0 months and 8.2 months).
The next 25% were done between 8.5 and 11.2 months. (8.7 months, 10.5 months, 10.8 months and 11.2 months).
The next 25% were done between 11.2 and 19.4 months. (11.2 months, 12.2 months, 12.2 months and 19.3 months).
The next 25% were done between 19.4 and 24 months. (19.5 months, 21.3 months, 23.2 months and 23.7 months).

That gives an idea based on those on the forum who entered their dates.

We were eligible on 14/5/18. So, at 9 months so far.

Hello All,
i have applied for partner visa 820 & 801 onshore while staying on visitor visa 600.
The validity of the visa is for one year but stay is 3 months after each visit.
So when will the bridging visa be granted ? After one year when the visitor visa is invalid or 3 months after the current entry date ?

Hey all

Just been speaking to my hairdresser (also from the UK) and she got her PR granted this morning after using the enquiry form a couple weeks ago (I told her all about this just a few weeks ago when I last saw her).
She applied a month early for the 801 when receiving the email prompt to submit her information for the PR visa. All in all she'd only been waiting 6 months, and now shes got her 801. They requested additional info (hadn't submitted the form 888s yet) they then called her partner and asked a few basic questions. no dramas apparently
Hi, what did she say in the enquiry form which may have potentially sped up the processing for her 801 application?

Is that absolutely correct that the waiting time is measured from the date of eligibility (2 years after 820 lodged)? Our visa agent told us that the waiting period for the 801 started from when we lodged the 801. We made a mistake and didn't realise that we could apply from the 2 year lodgement date of the 820 (15 Feb 2016) and consequently have lodged almost 12 months past that 2 year eligibility date. Could I furtively believe that maybe we have already done half the wait then?

Our 801 application was very thorough and checked by an excellent visa agent who said it was strong. My husband is from a medium high risk country (Tanzania) but all our other applications have got through in shorter time than most. So I am hopeful.

3 months after current entry date. That's when the bridging visa will kick in.

My eligible date was 5 October 2018. I applied a month early...basically as soon as I got the email stating I could go ahead and supply the information. :)

Do you get an acknowledgement email from the DHA when you lodge the second stage for the 801?

Just looking back at communications with regard to the Medicare issue and we have emails "IMMI Acknowledgement of Application Received" when we lodged the 300 and 820, but nothing for the second stage/801.

The acknowledgement for the 820 lists both 820/801 which is correct as it is for both.

So yes we have quite similar dates. May I ask what country you are from and if you have applied through an agent?
USA. No agent help this go around.

Hi guys,

I am in the process of applying for the second stage (801) and have a question about the online application process:

Does my partner need to fill out an online form like for the 820 application we did 2 years ago?

So far I have filled out my online form and submitted evidence for our relationship passports etc for me and my partner.

Are there any other steps required? Does my partner need to lg into his immi account?

I am a bit freaked out as I don't find any good guidance material about the second stage, it seemed a bit too easy

You're partner just needs to do the stat dec for the 801 stage. He doesn't need to log into his immi account. You can have him do his stat dec, get it certified and upload it on your account.
