Hi all,

We applied for 820 Visa May 2019. Every 6 months we uploaded further evidence docs eg photos, joint bank statements into out 820 application as we heard it would give us a better chance for a joint 820/801 grant.

Now we are very pleased that we got our 820 granted in March 2021. I understand we will have to apply for the 801 in May 2021, but was wondering if we should re-upload the additional documents from our 820 into our 801? Or will they look at them anyway for the 801 application and we should just upload new docs?

Thanks

In the relationship part of the 2nd stage application we just added things as a continuation from the last things uploaded in the 820.

I feel sure they would see the 820 documentation at the same time when they review the 801.

I need an info pls. Do I need to submit AFP again for 801 processing? CO had requested for AFP in April 2020 for 820 processing. And I submitted it in April 2020. Its just less than 7 months period that I applied for 801 after submitting the AFP for 820, still do I need to submit AFP again for 801 now?

My Important Dates

820 applied: Nov 2018
CO RFI request: Apr 2020 (updated AFP)
820 granted: May 2020
801 applied: Dec 2020
801 grant: Awaiting

December 19th 2018 - 820/801 Lodged

May 2020 - 820 Approved

December 22nd 2020 - 801 Lodged

March 25th 2021 - 801 Granted

No RFI's, didn't use an agent, 27 months in total
Omg mate congratulations!! I am over the moon for you because my wife applied on the 14th of December 2018 so hopefully we are near you!

I have a question though, I thought the estimated processing time for the 801 is from the time the 820 was granted or from the day you apply for the 820?
Thanks in advance!

It is from when you are eligible.
Keep in mind they aren't estimated processing times they are averages, small difference I know but it does make a decent change

"Character documents
Provide an Australian police certificate if you didn't provide it for your temporary Partner visa and for any country you have lived in since you were granted the subclass 820 visa."

According to above description on 801 visa page, you don't need to submit AFP again unless CO requests for it. I didn't submit APF for my 801.

The processing times are normally calculated from the date 2 years after the date you applied for the 820.

The times they show are actual times for the previous month.

For example:
  • Feb 2021: 16-22 = 75% took up to 16 months. 10% took over 22 months.
  • Jan 2021: 12-21 = 75% took up to 12 months. 10% took over 21 months.
  • Dec 2020: 11-20 = 75% took up to 11 months. 10% took over 20 months.
and last year:
  • Feb 2020: 11-22 = 75% took up to 11 months. 10% took over 22 months.
  • Jan 2020: 12-20 = 75% took up to 12 months. 10% took over 20 months.
  • Dec 2019: 12-19 = 75% took up to 12 months. 10% took over 19 months.

Some 801s and 100s appear to be being granted at the same time as the 820 or 309, or very soon after, where the relationship is close to the minimum period they have stated.
Yours looks like it was one of those.
