Hi guys, can someone advise me with what to do after receiving 801? Do I have to do something? or am I just overthinking?
TIA!
Relax, and enjoy the fact that it is all over. It is a fantastic feeling. Nothing more to do, you are a permanent resident of Australia.

But, in 1 years time, you can think about going for Citizenship, IF you have been in Australia for the required 4 years at that time.

If you don't become a citizen, and you travel outside Australia after 5 years, you need a visa to get back in. An RRV.

Thanks JandE, I was just wondering if I need to inform anyone about it lol

Our 801 was granted today as well after a long wait of more than 3 and a half years. As suggested in the forum, we submitted an online enquiry last month to ask if anything else was needed. Then found out about the stat declarations and submitted those.

my timeline:
820 submitted: Feb 2018
820 Granted: Jan 2020
801 Submitted: March 2020
801 Granted: August 2021

How soon after you submitted the final documents for the 801 was it granted?

Finally received our 801 visa! Timeline:

820 application: May 2019 - added new info every 6 months.
820 granted: March 2021
801 application: June 2021

We were considering send a follow up enquiry as suggested in this forum but luckily didn't need to! Thanks to everyone for their help/suggestions in the forums!

Awesome, our timeline is similar! Just submitted the 801 2 weeks ago so here's to hoping for a 2 month wait!

Hi all,
How is the waiting time for the 801 visa at the moment regarding the pandemic and closure of borders (which may shift the attention to onshore people)? Any idea how long after lodgement it's granted roughly?

TA,
Difficult to say, but here are examples over 3 years for subclass 801 processing times.

June 2019: 22-26. 75% took up to 22 months. 10% took over 26 months.

June 2020: 7-17 = 75% took up to 7 months. 10% took over 17 months.

June 2021: 11-19 = 75% took up to 11 months. 10% took over 19 months.

Aug 2019: 17-24 = 75% took up to 17 months. 10% took over 24 months.

Aug 2020: 11-22 = 75% took up to 11 months. 10% took over 22 months.

Aug 2021: to be released mid September.

They appear faster than before Covid-19.

From nine actual subclass 801s that I have seen granted in August 2021, the times varied between 1.5 and 18 months, from eligibility date.
80% were under 8 months and 20% over 17 months, ie: 8-17.

Thank you for your detailed information. So, when you say "Aug 2020: 11-22 = 75% took up to 11 months. 10% took over 22 months", you mean after I am eligible for the 801 application and I lode my application it might take up to 11 months to receive 801?
Cheers,

It might take 2 months, it might take over 22 months, it will probably be somewhere in between, with most under 11 months.

Our 801 took 9.4 Months, in the month where they quoted 19-24.

The time is calculated from eligibility date, not date of lodging.

Your 801 processing time is about 9 months, very similar to ours back in 2019.

Hey Guys,

I just got granted for the 801 visa like 5 minutes ago. I would update my timeline here as well so people can get the data.

2018 Dec - Came to Australia & got married
2019 Jan - Applied 820/801 visa with Agent
2020 Oct - Got granted 820 visa
2021 Jan - Apply 801 visa by myself
2021 Aug - Got granted 801 visa ( No call from officer just received the email with grant )

I did try using the inquiry form in 2021 May but I only get the reply that my application was within timeline.

Thank you all very much! This forum is very helpful and I was able to know more about that process. Hope everyone got their visa ASAP!

Hi all,

I got my 801 granted last week, i wanted to update some information in the hope of helping everyone.. Our timeline is:

  • Met 2014.
  • Together 2017.
  • Moved in with my partner April 2018. At this time we did not have any intentions to do partner visa or something like that, so i did not even update my address or keep any records.
  • We decided to do partner visa around November 2018, when my visitor visa was nearly expired. In order to buy some time, I applied for another visitor visa, which was expired March 2019.
  • We got joint account, update address in January 2019. That is why I put 01.02.2019 as our De facto date....
  • Registered our relationship in March 2019. And lodge De facto visa on 26.04.2019.
  • We did not go with an agent as we knew that no agent would accept a risky and low chance application like this, they would advice us to get married instead.
  • Got RFI in January for both applicant and sponsor police check, and medical assessment.
  • I got my 820 in February 2021, exactly 22 months from initial application. I sent an email to thank them for processing my application, also politely asked whether there is any more documents i could provide. Got auto reply about two weeks after.
  • I lodged the second stage of my application (801) in March, at 23 months mark.
  • At the two-year mark, I sent a suggestion (as I saw some people in this forum had done it and got good results back). I also explained in details we have been exclusive long before our "De facto date", with a lot of backup photos had been uploading already... Got only auto response.
  • I decided to send another email to [email protected], asked again about my application, which was sent on 10.05.2021.
  • My 801 visa grant came 19.05.2021 😊 Noted that since my 801 lodged, I updated photos and documents almost weekly.....
  • It took 24 months and 19 days in total.
Compared to others' application, ours were not that strong. I am just glad that the wait is over. It was a stressful period of time of trying gather as many evidences as possible because we are not married, no kids, no joint assets, no joint leases, just a lot of photos.... I was totally obsessed with this, kept checking my email like ten thousands times a day....

As JandE said, one of the reasons that my visa got granted this quick maybe they are trying to meet the target before end of June... I hope that everyone in this forum would receive your good news very soon. In meantime, keep updating your application as I would suggest....

I would personally thank JandE for all advices and information he has been giving in this forum, which helped me a lot in my case... Thank you.......
Hi,

congratulations on your partner and permanent visa being granted, that's so amazing.
I have just received my 820 visa on 31st of July 2021 after having lodged it in October 2019, I have been told that I cannot apply for my 801 any sooner than one month before the two year period from when my 820 was granted, but you have mentioned that you lodged your 801 a month after you were granted your 820, when you say at the two year mark does that mean from the initial lodgement of 820 application? and could you kindly tell me what suggestion you sent through if possible? this is all new to me as the agent I used to lodge my visa was so neglectful and absolutely screwed me over with the uploads and timing of replies from the CO.

Cheers
